Negotiations between Tottenham and manager Julian Nagelsmann ‘are getting hot’ after he pulled out of negotiations with Chelsea this week.
That’s according to BILD, who say the German boss may have changed his mind on a move to Spurs after he ‘turned down’ an approach recently.
They report that Tottenham had shown interest in hiring him immediately after he was sacked by Bayern Munich and made an enquiry, but he rejected them, insisting he wanted time out of the game.
However, he is now ready to take up a new job and is ‘very much tempted’ to take over Tottenham next season.
He is ‘concentrating’ on the option of joining Spurs ahead of other suitors and is very much ‘interested’ in succeeding Antonio Conte at the club.
According to BILD’s information, Nagelsmann had ‘beaten Chelsea to the punch’ with his rejection earlier this week and would now be ready accept the job at Tottenham, which was, incidentally, turned down by his successor at Bayern Thomas Tuchel.
Any agreement between him and Tottenham would be warmly welcomed in Bavaria as it would allow them to save on the €6.7m salary that they still owe him.
In addition, they can demand a transfer fee for their former coach, meaning there are complex negotiations to be had before he is officially Tottenham’s next manager.
Nonetheless, he is now showing an active interest in taking the role, which is a major step forward for Spurs given he turned them down not long ago.
