Djed Spence

Inter Milan are ready to push forward for Tottenham‘s Djed Spence, who can leave England after an impressive World Cup campaign.

The full-back’s call-up to the Three Lions’ squad came as a shock to many. However, he didn’t let anyone down, emerging as one of England’s best players at the tournament, also impressing in the loss to Argentina in the semi-finals.

This has led to Spence attracting global attention. Sport Witness have covered how Inter have made initial contact and see the defender as an alternative to Marco Palestra and Anan Khalaili.

The England player will cost more than the Israel full-back but talks with Tottenham could soon re-open.

Inter have strategy for discount

Corriere dello Sport report that ‘in the next few hours’ the two clubs will hold talks for Spence again.

The newspaper see this as Inter’s chance to put all their cards on their table. They already know that Tottenham want a package worth €40m and this would include €35m and bonuses of €5m.

Despite that, Inter want a discount. They understand the player is keen on a transfer, as he will return to playing in the Champions League. They want to use his intentions to seek a discount and look to beat competition from England quickly.

Spence, at his end, feels like his time at Tottenham is up. He knows he isn’t a starter at either left-back or right-back and  has had a ‘hard time’ accepting this truth.

To make sure this doesn’t impact his career, the England man wants to join Inter.

Our take: Inter need to rush

With the World Cup now finished, Inter should look to push for Spence. The 25-year-old has done enough in the last two seasons at Tottenham to attract new clubs and this should be enough of a reason for the Nerazzurri to rush.

They wouldn’t want to miss out on another wing-back option.

Spence’s career graph is clearly on the up and there is every reason for Cristian Chivu’s side to be keen. The fact that talks have been scheduled is a good sign.
