Just last week, we covered a report in Italy claiming that Tottenham were looking at Arda Güler as a potential future transfer.
The 17-year-old is one of the latest starlets to emerge from Turkey, and while he isn’t close to being a regular starter at Fenerbahçe, his performances to date have caught the eye.
Tottenham were never really seen as a potential landing spot for him in the past, with other Premier League clubs linked instead, but that has now changed, it seems.
This all comes as part of Napoli taking an interest in the one-time capped Turkey international, with it said that Spurs were among the competition for his signing.
Well, we have an update on that on Monday courtesy of Valter De Maggio, who took to Radio Goal to reveal the last information he had received on the player’s situation.
“There is currently a pending variable release clause in the player’s contract. If he plays less than 1500 minutes with Fenerbahçe, the clause will be of €5m. If it goes above 1500 minutes, it will go up to €20m. At Napoli, there are reflecting on this.”
It isn’t said whether those 1500 minutes are for the current season, but that would certainly make sense, meaning that if this is the case, there is a long way to go for him to reach that total.
To date, this campaign, the Tottenham target has played for 305 minutes spread over 13 appearances in all competitions, during which he has scored three goals and picked up one assist.
