It appears that we now have an all Premier League battle for the signing of Takehiro Tomiyasu, according to Il Resto del Carlino.
The Italian newspaper have an article looking at the future of various Bologna players, including the Japanese defender, who is finding himself at the centre of a tug of war between various clubs, including Tottenham.
The Premier League club have heavily linked with a move for the player following the appointment of both Fabio Paratici at director of football and Nuno Espirito Santo as their manager, and they have been said to be in the lead to acquire his services.
This is corroborated by Il Resto del Carlino, who explain there is an ‘auction’ for Tomiyasu, with both Tottenham and Arsenal ‘in the front row’.
West Ham are a ‘bit further back’, while Atalanta are ‘starting to look at other profiles’, knowing full well they won’t be able to compete with Premier League money if that’s where this goes.
Bologna, for their part, are asking for €25m, and the current situation, with all the English clubs queuing up, offers ‘could increase’.
If they do, then they will ‘get closer to the number that would signify the player’s departure’.
We’ll have to wait and see, but as we can see, Tottenham remain among the favourites to get their man.
