Turning 33 in December, Hugo Lloris is nearing what many would call the twilight years of his career, and while the goalkeeper hasn’t shown too many signs of decline yet, what happens after his exit remains a very big question mark at Tottenham.

Arriving from Lyon back in 2012 for a fee of £11m, the France international has been a loyal servant to the London side throughout the years, but it isn’t surprising to see the club start thinking about the future.

We’ve already covered a few reports in the past, like this one about an alleged interest in Thomas Strakosha, suggesting scouting has taken place, and it’s now spread to France.

According to Eurosport journalist Manu Lonjon, one of the names being strongly considered is Lille’s Mike Maignan.

In fact, it’s stated Spurs have ‘started talks’ with the player just in case Lloris leaves the club and that José Mourinho is ‘preparing himself for an agitated summer’ at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

That’s all the detail we get, but Lonjon also points out the fact this avenue appears to be in the process of being explored shouldn’t be all that surprising due to the fact that, shortly after taking over from Pochettino, the Portuguese manager poached Lille’s goalkeeper coach Nuno Santos from the Ligue 1 side.

It would make sense for him to whisper Maignan’s name to his boss, especially if there have been signs within the club about Lloris potentially leaving.

The France number three is contracted to Lille until 2022, and if Lonjon’s reporting is anything to go by, Spurs could face strong competition for Chelsea, who still aren’t thrilled with Kepa Arrizabalaga.
