Former Holland international Willem van Hanegem has revealed he is a big fan of Tottenham Hotspur forward Vincent Janssen. Holland again lost at home to Greece in their last match, but Janssen continued to impress for his country after only making his debut earlier in the year.

Speaking to Voetbal International, Van Hanegem said the Tottenham star is by far the best player currently in Danny Blind’s team. The ex Feyenoord midfielder believes Janssen shows good movement, and is aware of his teammates around him.

Van Hanegem went on to say the player must be pinching himself after being released by Feyenoord four years ago because they didn’t think he would make it in the top flight of Dutch football.

“He is currently by far the best player in the Dutch national team. The guy is physically good, always moving and he has an eye for his teammates. He will not believe four years ago he was only with Almere City FC after Feyenoord told him that he would not make it in the top league,” said the Holland legend.

Janssen played the full 90 minutes against Greece on Friday night, and it seems the Tottenham summer signing has established as Blind’s first choice centre forward.

The forward will expect to start in Tuesday’s clash with Sweden, which is must win, or certainly a must not lose, for Blind if he wants to remain as the Holland coach.
