Earlier today, we covered some quotes from Lucas Moura regarding his contract situation at Tottenham Hotspur.
The Brazilian made it clear that with his deal expiring at the end of the season, he’s ready to listen to the offers he’ll have, as he doesn’t sound very confident that the club will offer him a renewal.
It turns out, however, that Lucas Moura also had many good things to say about Tottenham in that same interview. Not only about teammates and fans, but about the club’s structure as well.
Speaking to Flow Esporte Club, the attacker was asked about Spurs being able to compete with the Premier League’s biggest clubs. The player then hailed the good job done at the London side, claiming all the investments have been worth for them to reach a higher level. He also praised two specific players who are responsible for puttint the club on that place.
“I think the management. It is clear what the president has done in recent years. Man, it’s very commendable. He brought Pochettino who stayed there for six years and changed the face of the team. And also the players. That’s where management comes in,” Lucas Moura told Flow Sport Club.
“The guys they sign. They brought Harry Kane, Son, who today, man, what they did for the club, for sure, the club owes them a lot. Tottenham is what it is today thanks to these guys. Then I came later with my share of contribution and everything. But then you see, the investment that was made, the long-term planning, because the team has not won a title for a long time and even so the president kept the coaches and such. There he built the new stadium. The training centre there is something from another world. So, like, it’s management, right, it was earning more money, investing more, the team grew and today it is a great power.”
Moura, who joined Tottenham on a move from Paris Saint Germain in January 2018, already has 213 appearances, 38 goals and 27 assists for the club, and could soon be on his way out in case they don’t reach an agreement for a renewal.
