Even though the Italian media is obviously glad that Milan managed to knock-out Tottenham Hotspur from the Champions League’s round-of-16, they also highlight how poor Spurs have been.
Some heavy comments were made by journalist Marco Barzaghi on his Youtube channel. There, besides criticising Antonio Conte, he also claimed the London side showed little threat to the Rossoneri in the two games.
There were some specific comments about Son Heung-min, with Barzaghi claiming the South Korean star is nowhere the level he once stood at Tottenham.
“Son has become a shadow of himself: never seen him take anyone on, never take any shots at goal; He who had been the striker of the Premier League last season” said Barzaghi on Youtube (via InterNews24).
It turns out Son wasn’t the only one highlighted for a lack of attacking prowess, as Barzaghi also criticised the lack of chances given to Harry Kane, even though, in that case, that may be the team’s fault rather than the player’s.
“Kane had two chances. In two games, apart from that final header, which didn’t even create so many problems for Maignan, Tottenham had practically no shots on goal. How little!”
Following the elimination in the Champions League, it’s time for Tottenham to concentrate on the Premier League, where they stand in 4th and should continue fighting to clinch a place in the European competition in the next season.
Before the international break, they now face Nottingham Forest and Southampton.
