When you cover transfer reports on a daily basis, certain patterns tend to stick out like a sore thumb.

One of these appears to be the number of players tracked by both Tottenham and Southampton at the same time, which, considering Mauricio Pochettino has managed both clubs, isn’t all that surprising.

The latest in a long list of players linked with the two clubs simultaneously is Lazio’s Jordan Lukaku, the Everton striker’s younger brother.

Now a fully-fledged Belgium international, the 22-year-old is currently recuperating from an ankle injury, and Il Messaggero reckon that, despite him signing for Lazio in the summer, the player could be a target for both Premier League sides.

Considering Lukaku was only bought from KV Oostende for £4.25m, any kind of profit for the Serie A side, not exactly blessed with unlimited finances, would be a tidy bit of business, yet it remains to be seen if this reported interest is genuine.

With Danny Rose and Ben Davies already at the left-back spot, it seems highly unlikely Tottenham are looking to strengthen that particular spot.

We already covered previous reports of a Pochettino interest in the player back in October, and even the Belgian press weren’t convinced about them.

As for Southampton, it’s slightly more believable, but then again, Claude Puel already has Ryan Bertrand and Matt Targett at his disposal, meaning a move for Lukaku would make little sense.

Our verdict is that Lazio should be able to breathe comfortably until at least next summer when it comes to their left-back, who has only made four league appearances so far.
