Tottenham “have sinned” against Antonio Conte, with the players and others, higher up, letting him down.
That’s according to journalist Xavier Jacobelli, who believes attitude problems at Spurs were to blame for his early departure from the club.
Conte left Tottenham last week in a mutual agreement, months ahead of his contract coming to an end in the summer.
His departure followed a difficult few months at the club in which his style of football and management had been widely questioned by fans.
Conte snapped just before the international break following the draw with Southampton, suggesting there was a losing mentality at Tottenham that he had been unable to break through.
That seemingly made his position untenable and despite Tottenham initially sticking with him, the two parties elected to reach a mutual termination last week, with Conte’s assistant Cristian Stellini taking charge until the end of the season.
Jacobelli was left unimpressed by how things went down and has made his feelings clear in comments to Tuttomercatoweb.
“Tottenham have sinned against Conte,” he said.
“He brought them back to the Champions League five years after the last time, they currently continue to be in the running for Europe despite the Spurs squad not being comparable to the others fighting for the title.
“He returned to the field for Milan immediately after the operation and it shows how professional he is.
“Even a part of the team has to question certain attitudes since they could certainly have given much more.”
