Just last week, the Portuguese media revealed Tottenham Hotspur’s interest in Porto goalkeeper Diogo Costa.
Newspaper Jornal de Notícias claimed Spurs are one of the candidates to sign the player next summer, as they see him as the ‘ideal solution’ to replace Hugo Lloris.
Well, it turns out it didn’t take long for a scout from Tottenham to be seen at a Porto match.
As reported by newspaper A Bola, Spurs were one of the clubs who sent an official for the Champions League clash between the Dragons and Inter Milan on Tuesday evening.
The outlet does not make clear if Tottenham had a specific target at the game, but given those recent links, it’s hard not to think of Costa.
The goalkeeper, who’s now protected with a €75m release clause in his new contract, had a good performance.
Porto didn’t need a lot from him, but he did his job when required, and kept the clean sheet in the 0-0 draw, which ended up knocking the Dragons out of the competition.
Now in case Tottenham are indeed looking for goalkeepers, they may have been also impressed by Inter Milan’s Andre Onana, who actually excelled by stopping Porto’s attack and was responsible for taking Inter Milan to the quarter-finals.
