Tottenham are ‘in the running’ for Milan Skriniar’s signature if he leaves Inter Milan on a free in the summer.
That’s according to Calciomercato.it, who say Spurs are one of several clubs eyeing up the centre-back on a potential free transfer.
They explain that Inter are currently ‘struggling’ to get Skriniar signed to a new deal, with his current contract set to expire in June 2023.
The player is currently ‘flipping’ from one side to the other and refusing to give Inter a definitive answer, something which is naturally causing concern.
They want to get the Slovakian tied to a long-term deal, but they are not going to change the offer that has already been presented; €7m per season plus bonuses.
Skriniar wants to think ‘carefully’ about his decision as he in the prime of his career and this may be his last chance to secure a big move abroad.
He is aware that there is interest in him from around Europe and that ‘pressure’ has been increasing in recent months, with several sides ‘following’ him.
Tottenham are one of those who are ‘in the running’ for his signature, with Antonio Conte remaining a big fan of a player who was key for him during his time in charge of Inter.
The Italian remains keen to improve Tottenham’s defence and Skriniar would represent a major capture, particularly on a free transfer.
Inter want to avoid that happening and talks are still open over an extension, but the further along things get, the more concerned they are becoming.
