The end of the transfer window always sees mysterious bids appear, and we’ve got one from Croatia involving Tottenham, who have yet to sign anyone this summer.
Spurs fans are starting to worry their club won’t bring in any reinforcements, and with little activity being reported around Europe, that might very well be the case.
However, Sportske Novosti in Croatia believe Tottenham have made a €40m bid for Inter’s Marcelo Brozovic, but the Serie A side want €50m, which is his release clause.
The outlet point out, quite rightly, that there isn’t much difference between €40m and €50m (by our calculations, it’s around €10m), but everyone knows about Daniel Levy and his reluctance to overspend on players.
The Tottenham chairman is described as having a ‘snake in his pocket’ and ‘very cautious about his wallet’.
Brozovic apparently ‘wants to leave’, but there’s no guarantee Spurs will come back with an improved bid.
What we find strange is that this hasn’t been reported in Italy, not even in the slightest, and we’re pretty sure someone there would be aware of a €40m bid for an Inter player.
