With names like Islam Slimani and Christian Benteke doing the rounds in January, it was clear Tottenham were on the lookout for a new striker.

The club were without Harry Kane, and with no out and out goalscorer in their squad, their need was rather desperate.

That hasn’t really changed, even if the England international has now returned from his injury, meaning a search is still underway with more and more names being linked.

The latest comes from France, with Le10 Sport reporting Spurs ‘took information’ about Amiens SC’s Serhou Guirassy ‘recently’.

The forward, who is expected to leave this summer, has an asking price of €15m ‘minimum’, although there are ‘whispers’ that could even reach €20m.

Amiens were recently relegated down to Ligue 2 after the French government called it a day on the top two leagues, and it appears they are willing to cash in, but only at the right price.

As things stand, Spurs haven’t gone beyond their enquiry, perhaps put off by how much Amiens want, but West Ham have, with ‘discussions currently underway’ regarding a transfer to London Stadium.

This means that if Tottenham are indeed considering making a move for Guirassy, they might have to act quicker than expected.

The former France U20 international had scored nine goals in 24 appearances this season.
