After leaving AS Roma last month, Paulo Fonseca is now edging closer to be the new Tottenham Hotspur manager.
The Portuguese coach’s arrival in north London is yet to be made official, but the rumours have already started linking Spurs to a handful of players of the Serie A side.
On June 10th, La Repubblica reported Fonseca is tipped to target Gianluca Mancini, Gonzalo Villar and Lorenzo Pellegrini for Tottenham.
Calciomercato has another report focusing on the Premier League side’s interest in Pellegrini.
The Italy international has a year left on his contract, which includes a €30m release clause.
According to the website, the 24-year-old is ‘negotiating his renewal’ with the Giallorossi, but the two parties are yet to reach an agreement and are ‘struggling’ to find it.
Spurs’ interest is mentioned and it’s claimed the English capital club are ‘ready to pay’ the €30m release clause.
The player, for his part, has made it clear that he ‘would not agree to use this as a tool’ to join another Italian club, so whether that counts for Tottenham too remains to be seen.
