Tottenham are ‘ready to make an offer’ for Geno star Radu Dragusin, with the Italian side preparing for a bid to be submitted.
That’s according to Sky Italia, who say if Tottenham make a €30m offer for the Romanian defender then it ‘will be difficult to resist’ for Genoa.
Tottenham look set to have a busy January transfer window as they look to build on an impressive first half of the season and to strengthen Ange Postecoglou’s squad, which has been decimated by injuries in recent weeks.
That’s been the case in central defence in particular, where injuries to the likes of Mick van de Ven and Cristian Romero have left Spurs short and struggling.
A centre-back is at the top of the Australian’s transfer wish list, with Postecoglou having admitted as much in public.
That’s seen Tottenham linked to several in Europe as a result including Dragusin, who, if reports are to be believed, has rocketed to the top of the list of options.
Sky back that idea up, stating that the defender is liked by Napoli and AC Milan but ‘above all by Tottenham’. According to them, they are ‘ready to make an offer’ to Genoa, who are asking for €30m.
Whether Spurs are willing to pay such a figure isn’t made clear but if they were to submit one at that price, ‘it will be difficult to resist’ for Genoa.
A move to Tottenham would seemingly fit into the player’s plans, though, with his agent confirming that’s where they’re currently looking to see if a move is to happen.
“We said to ourselves that we will talk after the transfer market. We don’t want to leave either, we start from this assumption,” he is quoted as saying.
“Then if an important club comes that can make him make a leap in his career it is normal that they can evaluate him. Just like Genoa, if a figure arrives that is important, according to what we read about the fact that there is talk of possible offers of €30m.
“In life certain trains arrive once or twice, but we are in no hurry to leave: many teams have called and are interested. If something will come out of these then fine, otherwise we are happy here and after the transfer window we will certainly find an agreement to renew.
“In my opinion, if he leaves Genoa, he must do so for a very important team. I’m talking about one of the top 5-6 in the Premier League, the top in Italy like Inter or Milan.
“I mention these names as examples, not to say that they have interest. They are very strong teams, and we would be happy if they were interested in him. Let’s see, now think about working.”
