Tottenham Hotspur could jeopardise Inter Milan’s efforts to secure Alessandro Bastoni’s long-term future, according to InterLive.it.
The Italy international’s deal expires in 2024 and he earns €4m per year including bonuses. The Serie A side have offered him a deal worth €4.5m plus bonuses, while his agent is demanding €6m annually.
Inter could face a concrete threat from Tottenham as they could offer €7m per year to the centre-back.
There’s a difference between supply and demand, and Tottenham could surpass the figure demanded by the 23-year-old’s representative. Antonio Conte had his compatriot at Inter and it’s ‘no secret’ he wants the defender at Spurs.
Conte’s deal runs down in June and the north London club have an option to extend it until 2024. If the ex-Chelsea boss renews his contract, the ‘greatest danger’ for Inter to hold on to Bastoni could come from Tottenham.
Inter want to avoid losing Bastoni and have scheduled a meeting with his agent after their clash against FC Porto on March 14th. They could raise their offer by €1m to convince the defender.
Bastoni has five assists from 27 matches in all competitions this season.
