Tottenham are busy spending this summer, with Daniel Levy opening the chequebook to allow Mauricio Pochettino to rebuild his squad.
They’ve already signed Tanguy Ndombele for a club record fee and Pochettino wants to add another midfielder to his incomings.
Giovani Lo Celso is their prime target, while Dani Ceballos is another option and according to AS, Dani Olmo can also be added to the list.
They report that that the Spain U21 star is set to leave Dinamo Zagreb this summer and Tottenham are ‘on pole’ to sign him. Mauricio Pochettino has already asked Spurs to sign the player and contact between the two clubs has begun.
In fact, it’s believed any negotiations should be easy, with the two clubs having a positive relationship from when Tottenham signed Luka Modric. Zagreb would be looking for €30m for their man.
They will, though, face competition for his signature. Atletico Madrid are also keen and they have already reached out to his entourage to see if he’d be interested in joining the club. No official contact about a move has been made.
Olmo is also said to be ‘seduced’ by the idea of playing in the Premier League, furthering Tottenham’s chances of getting him, although a return to Spain also interests him as well.
In truth, this feels like a move by Spurs to cover their bases in case they can’t get Lo Celso or Ceballos. They don’t need all three, so having options would make sense.
Although, they will need a replacement if Christian Eriksen leaves this summer. Olmo would be a good option, particularly at €30m so getting the ground work done know would make sense.
