As Tottenham Hotspur continue to be very patience regarding Clément Lenglet’s situation, it’s Barcelona who now feel all the pressure.
Following the loan spell the centre-back had with Spurs, the London side did not move for the signing and the player returned to the Camp Nou, where he’s not wanted.
Newspaper AS today explains that by keeping Lenglet in their squad, Barça need to spend €16m on salary. The club are working hard to get rid of that kid of expense, and may have to act and let him leave for free.
The outlet points out that even though other players such as Samuel Umtiti and Sergino Dest don’t have clubs fighting for him, Lenglet’s situation was supposed to be different, since Spurs want to keep him in their squad.
The problem is that Tottenham are aware of Barcelona’s situation. So now they wait for the La Liga giants to act like they did with Umtiti, who had his contract rescinded. That way, Lenglet would be free to return to London as a free agent.
For that to happen, Spurs must stay patient and watch the Spanish club do it all by themselves.
