Antonio Conte demands everything from his players, both in training and during matches. When he doesn’t get what he feels is 100% then the Italian makes that clear, not really being the type to hide his feelings very well.

That approach works for a while at clubs, but in the long term, especially if there’s a lack of success in terms of trophies, it can get a little overbearing.

That’s what happened at Tottenham and has happened previously for Conte at other clubs. Whilst in Italy they tend to back him, repeatedly pointing out the failings at Spurs go far beyond the manager, there are some people in the media who are prepared to point the finger at Conte.

Former player Marco Tardelli is quoted by L’Interista as saying: “The players are starting to no longer feel good with him and it is no coincidence that after two years Conte leaves. Mourinho is also at the limit, with an average stay of two-three years in the same square. Conte only does it with stress, for two years, then it becomes difficult.”

Many of Tottenham’s players have been managed by both Jose Mourinho and Antonio Conte in recent years, going through the “stress” style of management over a prolonged period.

Who they’ll get next isn’t yet known, but they almost certainly won’t be quite as fierce.
