On Wednesday, Corriere dello Sport reported on Tottenham defender Radu Dragusin’s desperation to move to AS Roma.
The Romanian only wants a switch to the Stadio Olimpico despite RB Leipzig’s interest.
His agent has already made it clear several times, previously revealing that he wouldn’t even consider a move to Fiorentina. Florin Manea explained his client is a gladiator, and, naturally, gladiators belong in Rome.
So far, Roma have only put forward an initial loan with an option to buy. There was a minor gap between the parties but the player was still pushing for the transfer. This was reported by Corriere dello Sport on Tuesday, who were confident that a deal will go through.
Today’s Gazzetta dello Sport reports Tottenham are yet to approve the terms that Roma have put forward.
The newspaper reiterate that the Giallorossi have offered a loan with an option to buy. This is unlikely to appease Tottenham, who would ideally want guarantees over a permanent transfer.
There is also confirmation that Dragusin has put Leipzig on hold as he only wants to join Roma.
Today’s Corriere dello Sport add more details to the centre-back’s stance.
They claim that Dragusin wants to leave the London club and never come back. Instead of a loan move, he would be much more keen on a permanent deal. That isn’t necessarily a slight on Tottenham, he just wants something concrete to kickstart his career from.
That is a bit of a problem for Roma though, as they are struggling to offer an obligation to buy. There is belief that even though the stance was initially helpful, it is making things ‘uphill’ for Roma.
One thing is clear – Dragusin disn’t rushing to join RB Leipzig. Even if the German club have stepped forward, which is questionable, he’s not keen.
The mention of the Bundesliga side seems to be a pressure tactic from the player’s entourage, or an intermediary, to rush Roma. They probably see the finish line approaching and want the deal done as soon as possible.
