Torino have been working on a move for Tottenham Hotspur’s Callum Olusesi in the winter market.

A week ago, we covered claims from Italy that the Serie A side have ‘agreed everything’ with Tottenham. The operation is for a loan with an option to buy.

At the weekend, Gianluca Di Marzio and Toro News both reported Olusesi has completed the medical tests with Torino. He’s in London waiting for the visa before completing the move to Italy. The latter even explained the Turin club have a €10m purchase option.

A fresh report from Toro News now covers the latest twist in the deal to take the 18-year-old to Italy. Torino owner Urbano Cairo has confirmed work is ongoing to bring in at least one new player before the window closes later today.

“We’re working to do something more. I don’t want to reveal anything, but I hope to be able to add another player,” he said.

Cairo hasn’t revealed the name of the player. The outlet then takes a look at Torino’s interest in the Spurs midfielder.

The outlet points out again that the Englishman has already completed his medical tests with Torino. On Friday, the operation was considered ‘practically done’.

Tottenham transfer may be beyond saving

According to the report, the ‘situation changed’ over the weekend as the ‘deal that would have brought Callum Olusesi to Torino fell through.’ There’s no explanation provided.

The youngster has made only one appearance for Tottenham’s first team. Thomas Frank has regularly included him in the squad this season but is yet to offer him minutes with the senior team.

On Sunday, Olusesi was an unused substitute in Spurs’ 2-2 draw against Manchester City.

There are doubts whether the operation can resume on deadline day. The outlet asks ‘Is the deal now definitively stalled? The last 24 hours of the transfer window and we’ll find out.’

As things stand, there’s a risk of the Tottenham exit collapsing even after Olusesi completing the medical.
