Pierre-Emile Højbjerg has been linked with an exit from Tottenham Hotspur for over a year. The midfielder has been keen on getting more prominence and was therefore looking towards the exit door.
In the recently concluded season, Højbjerg hasn’t exactly been without minutes, but it’s clear he’s not in the core plans of Ange Postecoglou and therefore an exit looks like it suits everyone involved.
On top of that, the Denmark international has a year left on his deal with Spurs, and Tottenham surely won’t want to lose him for nothing in June 2025.
Multiple clubs from Italy have been linked, and over the past week there’s been claims of interest from Turkey. Atletico Madrid have popped up in the stories every now and again, but the Spanish club seem to have slipped out of the picture at the moment.
CalcioNapoli24 have managed to have a word with Luca Puccinelli, who says he’s representing the Tottenham player.
On his work with Højbjerg, he said: “This year I started working with Pierre and it was a great satisfaction for me to be able to convince a top player about the project I had for him. Pierre has already experienced a lot in his career, he played top seasons at Tottenham with coaches like Mourinho and then Conte. Even in the national team he is a great leader.”
Asked about the plan for the future, and whether the midfielder is absolutely leaving Tottenham, Puccinelli said: “A player like him will certainly be part of a club with great ambition or a project, because he is not only a strong player, but has a character ready to fight for important things every year. Pierre feels comfortable with the pressure of winning and I’m working in this direction.
“He tells me that every year he dreams of a trophy at the end of the season and doesn’t like not playing at all. This is his mentality, this is the mission.”
When pressed on whether proposals have already arrived, the agent said: “I’m working on the many requests we have already received, yes. We will analyse all the possibilities after the Euros, during the holidays we will spend some time together and look at the next chapter.”
