AC Milan have started moving to sign Emerson Royal from Tottenham Hotspur, according to claims from Italy.
Sky Sport journalist Gianluca Di Marzio reveals that the Rossoneri management held a meeting on Monday with the player’s agents.
It’s said this was a ‘first exploratory’ conversation. Milan are considering a few names for their right-back position and the Tottenham player is one of them.
For now, Di Marzio brings no information on how much the Rossoneri would like to pay to take Royal from Tottenham.
Just last week, the Brazilian media claimed that Milan and Bayern have both placed offers for the player. It was reported they are the favourites to sign him this summer.
That same story claimed Royal would prioritise his ‘mental health’ when choosing his new destination, meaning he wouldn’t only move for money.
This meeting then makes it look like that report was true, and it remains to be seen if Milan and Tottenham will find a deal for him. Royal’s contract with Spurs runs until 2026, and he’s currently valued by Transfermarkt at €30m.
