Tottenham Hotspur are having a torrid weekend.
Losing to Leicester City would have been bad enough for the London club, but to do so after going ahead and then conceding four goals is a big blow.
Spurs’ chase for the top four has been hit, and whilst Newcastle United’s draw against Bournemouth meant the Magpies only gained an extra point over Tottenham, Manchester United picked up all three points at Elland Road on Sunday.
Perhaps even worse news is the injury to Rodrigo Bentancur. The midfielder went down clutching his knee against the Foxes, and on Sunday morning Uruguayan journalist Federico Buysan revealed the player has torn a cruciate ligament and will be out for at least six months.
That was found out after Tottenham carried out an MRI.
El Observador, also from Uruguay, now report that Bentancur is set to quickly go under the knife.
The newspaper states the midfielder ‘will undergo surgery in the next few hours’. Then he can start the long road back to full fitness.
