Gugliemo Vicario is increasingly likely to leave Tottenham and is now seeking a wage rise.

Inter Milan have previously attempted to sign the Italian. They agreed personal terms with him and saw him as a first-choice option. Sport Witness covered this extensively, as the Nerazzurri then decided to continue with Josep Martinez, who did well in the second half of the 2025/26 campaign.

This didn’t stop Vicario from aiming for a return to Italy.

Juventus have been interested but hadn’t made a final decision about a move. They are looking for a new goalkeeper and also considered a move for Aston Villa’s Emi Martinez.

As a deal for the Argentine looks difficult, the Tottenham player has become a more important target.

Talks now on

Alfredo Pedulla is confident that the 29-year-old is Juve’s first-choice target. They haven’t received any positives in the move for Martinez and an attempt for Mile Svilar is too expensive.

That is why talks have been held with Vicario’s entourage, with the player keen on leaving Tottenham.

The Italy international is now seeking a pay rise. He agreed a deal worth €3.5m per season with Inter but now wants €4m per season from Juve. Those figures are after tax.

That may be an issue, given Vicario was partly being targeted because of his comparatively low wages.

Player knows what he wants

Vicario knows he is in demand and is taking advantage of that. However, part of the attraction for multiple Serie A clubs has been his salary, when compared to players like Martinez.

Then there’s also Tottenham’s demands, which will likely be higher than Italian clubs expect.
