On July 24th, Mundo Deportivo reported Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Pierre-Emile Højbjerg is enormously seduced with the possibility of joining Atlético Madrid.
Three days later, Marca stated the midfielder is better positioned to join the La Liga side.
Los Rojiblancos have not yet made progress to sign the Tottenham player who continues to be on their target list, according to today’s AS.
The Madrid club have to carry out a few exit operations before bringing in new faces to the club. They haven’t yet managed to get rid of those players that are no longer in Diego Simeone’s plans and it’s causing a delay with regards new arrivals.
One of the areas the Spanish club are looking to bolster is their midfield. It’s claimed the Denmark international is the ‘desired’ target for Simone and his club. At the same time, Fiorentina’s Sofyan Amrabat and other midfielders are being offered to Atlético.
Atlético CEO Miguel Ángel Gil Marín has already admitted the need to get rid of at least two players, in order to not breach the fair play regulations, to sign a midfielder.
AS explain that the Spurs midfielder, for his part, is waiting for the La Liga side to make an offer ‘that seduces’ Tottenham.
This is unlikely to happen anytime soon, unless Atlético find new clubs for some of their players.
