The Emerson Royal transfer saga has rumbled on for many weeks now and despite the low margins, Tottenham and AC Milan continued negotiating and the move kept dragging on.
It now seems as if the deal is done – finally. Gianluca di Marzio has reported that the move has ‘closed’ and only the minor details are now being ironed out between Spurs and the Rossoneri.
Emerson is currently ‘waiting for the OK to travel’ to Milan for his medical and to sign his contract, as he looks to replace the injured Alessandro Florenzo at the Rossoneri.
The fee, as per Di Marzio, is €15m plus bonuses and that is quite close to what Tottenham initially wanted.
We had previously looked at a claim from Calciomercato that Spurs wanted an initial fee of €15m and bonuses of €3m in the deal. Milan have pretty much paid that initial fee and while the bonuses of the move aren’t known, it is does seem that Tottenham have what they needed – at least for the upfront fee.
Why this has therefore dragged on so much is unknown.
