Every now and again an agent pops up who is so stereotypical it’ll be entertaining, and occasionally annoying.
Florin Manea has been that man for Tottenham Hotspur recently. He was fun when his client Radu Dragusin was making the move from Genoa, telling the media he’d turned down more money from Bayern Munich and really wanted to go to Spurs.
Then there was a little comment about Spurs being a stepping stone, and when Ange Postecoglou didn’t dump one of his starting centre backs for Dragusin right away, the agent kept popping up.
Hints of a move if there was no improvement in playing time came and went, and then he even questioned the playing style and effectiveness of Ange Postecoglou.
But what of Radu Dragusin himself? Well, he seems to be delighted with his experience at the Premier League club so far.
Speaking to Diretta.it, who wanted to get in touch after his time at Genoa, Dragusin was asked about his big year, transfer and Euro 2024, and said: “It’s a season that has gone very well so far. And I intend to continue my journey with Romania.
“I certainly grew a lot, and I went to Tottenham where it’s another world, where you just have to learn. But I want to grow further and achieve higher goals.”
The he was asked about playing in Europe next season with Spurs, and replied: “It’s what I wanted. My goal was to reach the highest levels of football and I want to do the best I can to achieve that.”
That all sounds exactly what fans would want a player to be saying about his move, and somewhat suggests that when Manea periodically explodes, he’s not doing so on the instruction of his client.
