On Monday, Radu Dragusin’s agent told TeleRadioStereo there could be developments about the defender’s Tottenham exit by Tuesday.

Florin Manea explained the move to Roma was in progress, with his client having made his preference for the Giallorossi clear. Fiorentina had also been keen but the defender would rather move to Gian Piero Gasperini’s side.

Manea had earlier talked up his client being in the mould of a gladiator. Therefore, the agent went on to explain, he’d fit Rome better than Florence. As Spurs fans will know, such grand statements aren’t unusual from Manea.

Today’s Corriere dello Sport points at further movement about Dragusin’s Tottenham exit.

The newspaper states the player has put his foot down about wanting to join Roma. He’s been in touch with the club for days and there is now an agreement over personal terms with the Italian giants.

The 23-year-old is waiting for an agreement to be reached between Roma and Tottenham.

€5m gap between Tottenham and Roma… but not just that

As of now, there is a €5m gap between the two parties. Giallorossi sporting director Ricky Massara is working towards an initial loan with an option. This will be triggered if certain conditions are met.

Tottenham are demanding an option to buy of €20m, with Roma yet to go beyond €15m. To iron out an agreement, Roma can include a loan fee in a package worth €18m and will hope that this proves enough.

Due to Dragusin’s recent knee injury, Gasperini’s side do not want to offer an absolute guarantee of buying the player permanently. That is probably why the London club might not be able to get an obligation to buy in the loan deal.

Quite what Tottenham will make of that isn’t clear. There appears to be an assumption in the report that Spurs will just roll with it. Of course, that doesn’t sound like something the Premier League side would typically do.

Manea may have to get more money out of Roma if they want his gladiator quickly.
