Tottenham Hotspur defender Cristian Romero is one of those players who moved to Europe very young, not having a chance to play in his country’s biggest clubs, and was a little unknown by his people when he showed up at the national team.
It turns out the 24-year-old ended up having a very good World Cup, and with the many praises the Argentine media has been making to specific players following Sunday’s title, he’s hailed by outlet La Voz Del Interior.
The outlet comes up with a story today claiming the Tottenham defender now became one of the best ‘on the planet’ in his position.
Their piece highlights how Romero showed up all of a sudden, and even though ‘not everyone had him on their radar’, he’s not ‘an established footballer’ who’s set to play for Argentina for ‘many years’.
Romero featured in all of Argentina’s games in their title winning campaign.
Despite being benched in the match against Mexico, he got back to the team in the following fixture and never left the line-up again, showing great form in the knock-out stage.
The only reason why he’s not being linked to European giants right now is probably because he’s just completed the permanent move to Tottenham, who spent €50m to sign him from Atalanta.
