OGC Nice defender Dante has told Walfoot that Tottenham Hotspur forward Richarlison will bounce back from his disappointing debut season.
Spurs invested over €100m when bringing new players to the club last summer and a large chunk of that went on signing the 26-year-old. He arrived at the north London club from Everton for a fee of around €58m plus bonuses.
The forward managed 10 goals and five assists from 30 league games for the Toffees last season but has failed to replicate the same form for Tottenham.
He has only one goal from 25 league games and that came in their 4-3 defeat to Liverpool on April 30th. Spurs have also struggled this season, which resulted in them showing the exit door to Antonio Conte in March.
Dante believes Tottenham’s poor run has played a role in the Brazil international not being able to impress.
When Walfoot asked Dante if his compatriot can make a difference at Spurs, he said: “Yes of course. But I think sometimes it’s not easy to go from a team that plays a certain way to another. Tottenham have had problems this season, Conte’s departure proved that.
“It’s not easy, especially for the forwards. Behind them, it’s easier to show off. In front, you have to adapt to new colleagues, it’s not always easy. But Richarlison is someone with a lot of heart, he’s a fighter, he has personality. I think next season he can have a big season.”
