Tottenham player in ‘mood for change’ in January – Will jump at transfer with ‘his eyes closed’

On Monday, Mundo Deportivo talked about the possibility of Tottenham Hotspur’s Giovani Lo Celso joining Barcelona in January.

Xavi Hernández won’t be able to count on Gavi for the foreseeable future after he suffered a serious knee injury while with Spain.

Sport state the Tottenham man could be an option for the La Liga side to replace Xavi’s ‘fundamental player’.

The manager has held talks with Barca sporting director Deco to prepare a plan for the winter market and this is where the 27-year-old would fit in.

It’s claimed Xavi has ‘insisted on a name’ and that’s the Argentina international. He has been on the Catalan club’s agenda for a while and the report states a deal to sign him could materialise in January.

Online, Sport state Lo Celso is the one that Xavi ‘likes the most’ to provide cover for Gavi. He’s settled for a limited role [83 minutes from four games] under Ange Postecoglou this season.

Due to his situation at Tottenham, the outlet claims he’s in the ‘mood for a change’ and would ‘welcome’ a return to La Liga, where he had spells at Real Betis and Villarreal.

This is backed up by Mundo Deporitvo, when discussing the Spanish giants’ desire to sign the Spurs midfielder for January.

It’s claimed Lo Celso would ‘come to Barca with his eyes closed’, on loan, with or without a purchase option. His experience of playing in La Liga would help him adapt immediately.

Mundo add Lo Celso wouldn’t be considered a non-EU player since he holds an Italian passport, and this could be another factor that favours the move.
