At the start of the international break, Tottenham Hotspur striker Richarlison was getting big support at the Brazilian national team.
Following his recent struggles due to his goal drought, the players, media and manager showed support for him, as he had a chance to start in the match against Venezuela.
Brazil didn’t do well in that game, though, getting a 1-1 draw, with Richarlison once again failing to score. And now, according to Globo Esporte, he’s being dropped from the team.
It’s claimed that manager Fernando Diniz is selecting Gabriel Jesus instead, and had a conversation with the Tottenham player about the decision.
Richarlison hasn’t scored for Brazil since the World Cup quarter-finals against South Korea. Since then, he started in seven games and couldn’t find the net.
Gabriel Jesus had been on Brazil’s bench for a long time, and even stayed out of the squad in some friendlies this year. Still, Diniz thought it was time to give him a fresh chance.
Playing for Tottenham, Richarlison has two goals and two assists this season, and will apparently have to work on his form at Spurs before recovering his place in the national team.
