Technically still a Napoli player until the end of the month, as that’s when his loan expires, Tanguy Ndombélé will be returning to Tottenham.
That isn’t a surprise in itself, as that had been expected for quite some time following a decent season under Luciano Spalletti, with the Serie A side finding the pre-agreed terms with Spurs too expensive for a full transfer.
However, the change of manager to Rudi Garcia came relatively close to opening a new door for the Tottenham midfielder, according to Il Roma, relayed by Calcio Napoli 1926, who now has to convince Ange Postecoglou to use him in London.
The outlet explain that Napoli will still be looking for a new midfielder, but the former Lyon coach ‘would not have minded’ working with Ndombélé.
Having worked with him in the past at the Ligue 1 side, there was clearly some affinity there, but it’s made clear ‘the conditions are not there’ for a move to happen.
Once again, it’s stated the purchase price (€30m) is ‘too high’ and the player himself is ‘fed up with playing little’ at the Serie a side, wanting to ensure he gets regular game time.
