Son Heung-min does not want to finish his career without winning any titles at Tottenham, hence the recent links to Real Madrid.
That’s according to Sport 1 journalist Christopher Michel, who recently broke the news that Real Madrid were interested in the Tottenham star.
He explained that Son is currently thinking about his next career move after seven years with Tottenham.
Son has been a star over that period but is yet to win anything with them, having been the runner up in the Champions League in 2018-19 and the EFL Cup in 2020-21.
That is apparently something he is keen to change, and Michel reported that Real Madrid are taking a close look at him as Carlo Ancelotti is a fan.
The journalist has now sat down for a conversation with Real Madrid site Bernabeu Digital and explained what’s going on behind the scenes with the Tottenham star.
“Son is relatively old, he has not yet dared to make the leap to a very big European club,” he told the website.
“Maybe that’s why he’s thinking about it so much now, even though he has only extended his contract with Tottenham Hotspur until 2025.
“This season it looks like he won’t be able to win the Premier League either. Nor is it clear he can be at his best under Antonio Conte.
“The 2019 Champions League final lost to Liverpool also had a lasting effect. Son does not want to end his career without a title. A club like Real would almost guarantee it for him.”
