Alejo Véliz hasn’t impressed since leaving Rosario Central for Tottenham Hotspur in August 2023.

The striker struggled for a prominent role at Tottenham, who then sent him on loan to Sevilla in January 2024. This move didn’t work out for him and Spurs let the 21-year-old join Espanyol on loan last summer.

Véliz has four goals from 1,171 minutes across 24 games for Espanyol and as things stand, has to return to Tottenham after this season.

It’s unclear where the Argentine will play next season while Bolavip suggest he can be an interesting target for River Plate.

The frontman has a contract at Tottenham until 2029 and is unlikely to have a place at the north London club next season. He could go out on loan again and if that happens, Véliz can be a ‘tempting’ for the Argentine club.

He managed 19 goals and two assists from 63 games for Rosario Central. The outlet says Véliz was valued at €11m when he left his former club and his struggles have seen it now drop to €2.8m.

Olé recently had a chat with the Tottenham owned player and asked about his ‘immediate goals’.

Responding to that, he said: “Try to play as much as possible. Hopefully, good things will happen. If you’ll allow me, I also dream of being a national team player. But you have to work hard, and a lot of things have to happen.”

When asked if he would like to return to Rosario Central, Véliz explained: “Yes, absolutely. At some point in the future, I’ll return. My dream is to win the championship.”

Last month, TyC Sports reported Véliz isn’t keen on retuning to Argentina just yet, and this would make it difficult for River Plate to sign him in the summer window.

Should Tottenham leave him out of their plans, he has to find a new club to fulfil his goals.
