Tottenham Hotspur are one of the clubs monitoring Emerson Royal, according to reports coming out of Spain.

The right-back is co-owned by Real Betis and Barcelona, and has been with the former since the start of last season.

His displays for Los Verdiblancos have caught the attention of several clubs, and Spurs are included in the list.

The north London club, along with Villarreal, Arsenal, Bayern Munich, AC Milan and Paris Saint-Germain are ‘on the footsteps’ of the Brazilian and this is reported by Radio Castellón, as relayed by La Razón.

As per the agreement between Real Betis and the Catalan club, the 22-year-old will move to the Camp Nou after this season. Barca’s ‘first option’ is to ‘make money’ through the defender’s sale in the summer.

Ronald Koeman’s side will pay €6m to Real Betis and will have to give half of what they earn from Emerson’s future sale. Therefore, Barcelona will only contemplate his sale if there’s a ‘good offer’.

Serge Aurier and Matt Doherty are the two right-backs at Tottenham. The Ivory Coast international’s contract expires in 2022 and he is reportedly wanted by the likes of PSG, AC Milan and Real Madrid.

The English club will have look for a replacement for Aurier if he decides to change clubs  in the summer and this is where Emerson could be a good fit for Spurs.
