Tottenham Hotspur are hopeful of hijacking Barcelona’s deal for Vitor Roque, according to reports from Spain.
Newspaper Mundo Deportivo today says Spurs are one of the clubs who are still interested in snatching the 18-year-old.
It’s no secret that Barcelona have very advanced talks to sign Roque from Athletico Paranaense, as there’s already a ‘pre-agreement’ between them.
The Catalan side will be spending €35m plus €10m in bonuses to land the youngster, and they’re now taking the ‘final step’, as only a ‘final document’ is left for the transfer to be done.
Now while that isn’t official, there’s hope from interested clubs, and that’s where Tottenham are brought in.
Spurs are one of the ‘powerful clubs’ who called Vitor Roque’s entourage and tried to make him change his mind.
Still, it doesn’t seem like Tottenham and others will stand a chance, because Mundo Deportivo claims the youngster is only focused on his switch to Barcelona.
The agreement between the Spanish and the Brazilian club has been reported for weeks now, and it’s hard to imagine that any other club would be able to change that scenario.
