Over the course of the summer, it was a well-known fact that Tottenham were looking for a new centre-back, eventually signing Micky van de Ven.
However, with the departure of Davinson Sánchez, another deal was being sought, as Galatasaray were willing to let Victor Nelsson if his release clause of €25m was triggered.
Tottenham never put that amount on the table, clearly feeling it was a bit much, and preferred to remain patient, which is now paying off, according to Sabah.
The Denmark international wasn’t particularly happy with his club’s stance over the summer, wanting to leave for the Premier League, and has made that clear since the start of the season.
He has dropped down the pecking order, supplanted by Sánchez, and is now considered the fourth centre-back in Okan Buruk’s squad.
Because of this, Galatasaray are now ‘ready to immediately accept a transfer fee of €10m’ for the Denmark international, who is ‘considering leaving in January’.
In short, if Tottenham offer an amount ‘above this price’ of €10m, they should get their man and bolster an area where Ange Postecoglou has found himself rather short amid a series of injuries and suspensions to key players.
