Former Tottenham Hotspur star Christian Eriksen returned to action when Brentford took him on a free transfer in January, and offered him a deal until the end of the season.
The 30-year-old impressed for the Bees and his performances convinced Thomas Frank’s side to make an effort to retain him at the club. However, Brentford will face competition from others clubs to keep the Denmark international.
On May 25th, Tipsbladet‘s Allan Olsen suggested Tottenham could be Eriksen’s next destination.
The attacking midfielder made it to the national team squad for the UEFA Nations League matches this month. He starred in Denmark’s 2-1 win over Austria on Monday, assisting Jens Stryger Larsen, who scored the winner.
According to Ekstra Bladet, scouts from Tottenham and nine other clubs were at the Ernst-Happel-Stadion to watch the player in action for his country. Spurs had a special focus on their former star, who can be signed on a free transfer this summer.
Apart from Antonio Conte’s side, Manchester United, West Ham United, Torino, Augsburg, Bayer Leverkusen, Borussia Dortmund, Sarpsborg, Trabzonspor and Istanbulspor also sent their officials to Vienna to watch Eriksen.
The report also explains that Tottenham Hotspur may have had a chance to ‘take a closer look’ at Eriksen’s compatriot, Joakim Mæhle. The Atalanta player has been linked with a move to the north London club this summer.
