As Tottenham Hotspur continue to be linked to Sporting manager Ruben Amorim, it seems there’s a lot more for them to see at the Portuguese side.
Newspaper Correio da Manhã today features a story where they reveal that a few Premier League sides will have officials at the derby between the Lions and Benfica at the weekend.
Tottenham are one of them, and they seem to be the club with most interest, as they’re said to have three specific targets on their agenda.
Spurs are first said to be attentive to the ‘team’s dynamics’, as they continue to have Ruben Amorim ‘well referenced’ for their managerial vacancy.
Then they’re expected to evaluate Marcus Edwards, who played for Tottenham’s academy before moving to Portugal, and Pedro Gonçalves.
Correio da Manhã writes that Spurs are already aware that all of their targets would only leave Sporting this summer for the price of their release clauses. So Amorim would cost €20m, Edwards €60m and Gonçalves €80m. It’s said that for the latter, there could be players and bonuses involves.
The newspaper doesn’t mention it, but Tottenham still hold a percentage of Edwards’ rights, and that should give them a 35% discount on his price.
