Turkish newspaper Gunes report Tottenham Hotspur have offered €25m to Trabzonspor for their highly rated goalkeeper Ugurcan Cakir.
The 23 year old who has been in excellent form for his club this season, and in recent months he’s been linked with Spurs’ Premier League rivals Liverpool.
However, according to Gunes it’s not just Liverpool who are interested in Cakir following the Reds’ reported offer last week. It was claimed the Anfield club had tabled a bid of €24m for the young keeper, but they should now expect to face competition from the London side.
Despite recently signing a new deal, Cakir could leave in the summer, and Gunes report that along with the two Premier League clubs, Inter Milan and Napoli are also tracking him.
Yesterday, we covered reports from the Turkish press which stated Leicester City are also interested in signing the player.
Cakir is clearly being hyped in Turkey right now, and with some good reason, although it’s curious that the clubs interested are said to see him as a second choice option. For a back-up, an offer of €20m+ sounds on the high side.
His contract with the Super Lig side will expire at the end of June 2024.
