Tottenham Hotspur’s Emerson Royal has emerged as the favourite target for AC Milan in the summer window, according to Friday’s edition of Gazzetta dello Sport.
Ange Postecoglou has used the 25-year-old across the back line at Tottenham, and he’s made 23 appearances this season, managing a goal in the process.
Emerson’s game time has been restricted in recent months, with only six league appearances this year.
The Serie A side could open their door to the defender in the summer window, as they are looking for a new right-back, who can also operate across other defensive positions.
Emerson clearly fits the bill and is the first name on the Rossoneri’s target list for the right-back position. It’s claimed the Italian club have been following him for some time and have also held talks with his agent in recent weeks.
At the San Siro, they see the Brazil international as the ideal candidate to strengthen their defence. Gazzetta say there’s a problem for Milan to secure his services and it’s ‘natural’ that it comes from Tottenham.
The north London club are ‘never shy’ in asking for a big fee as it’s claimed they want at least €30m for Emerson, which is very high for Milan.
With Milan keen, they somehow have to find a way to convince Tottenham to lower their request for the South American.
