Weston McKennie to Tottenham Hotspur is a rumour which has picked up pace in the Italian media over the last week, with it repeatedly stated Fabio Paratici is a fan of the player and could be looking to sign him as early as January.
Tuttosport, via Calciomercato.it, now explain that Juventus are working to get Adrien Rabiot secured to a new contract. The Frenchman’s current deal expires in the summer and during the last window his club tried to sell him, with a move to Manchester United on the cards at one point.
The stance in Turin has now changed, and they’d rather keep Rabiot and sell McKennie, largely because they can get a better fee for the latter given he has a longer contract.
According to the claims, Tottenham are already ‘moving’ for the signing, wanting to get the midfielder in the winter market. Paratici would be ready to offer ‘around €30m’, which seems mightily convenient for Juventus.
That €30m figure has been used as suggested asking price previously and it would suit Juventus perfectly if Tottenham paid that. Therefore, there’s a chance these claims are more from hope than expectation, and the situation will become clearer in the coming weeks.
