Over the past few months, the names Tottenham and Fiorentina have been closely joined, mostly because of Dusan Vlahovic.

While that ship has sailed, the two sides were once again mentioned in recent days as the pair were said to be fighting over the signing of Alvaro Odriozola, who is currently owned by Real Madrid.

The La Liga giants were happy to let him go on loan, and that’s exactly what he’ll be doing, but it will be with Fiorentina.

A stream of articles have emerged from Italy claiming the player had chosen to head to Italy for the coming season on a dry loan, and Gianluca Di Marzio expects him to be in Florence tomorrow, most likely to undergo a medical.

That leaves Tottenham somewhat high and dry in their hunt for a new right-back, as the operation to take Takehiro Tomiyasu from Bologna appears to have failed as well.

While Fabio Paratici has indeed worked his magic in the earlier stages of the transfer window, it appears he is finding the last week or so a tad more difficult.
