On Monday Croatian newspaper 24 Sata published an article saying Liverpool and Manchester City had backed away from Ante Coric because of the player’s €15m asking price.
That works out to be around £13m, and 24 Sata accepted that it was perhaps a little high. Coric is very talented and £13m isn’t such a big price for Premier League clubs, but it’s a very big fee for Croatian football and perhaps it was felt Dinamo were asking too much.
That story is more interesting given claims from another Croatian newspaper. Jutarnji claimed late on Sunday that Tottenham had made a €15m verbal offer for Coric on Saturday night, there was no update on whether that had been accepted or refused.
Either the asking price is €15m, or it isn’t. 24 Sata say it is, whereas Jutarnji don’t seem so sure.
As we stated earlier today, as Liverpool were linked with the player once again: ‘As is always with the case with Ante Coric, and most Dinamo Zagreb transfer rumours, it’s best to approach the situation with some caution. Despite being just 19 years of age, Coric already has a string of transfer sagas behind him.
That’s not to put blame on the player, it seems to be that when a brilliant youngster is found in Croatian football, many people want a piece of the action, and that complicates things.’
