Earlier today, we covered a couple of stories regarding Tottenham Hotspur’s insistence on signing AS Roma midfielder Nicolo Zaniolo.

It was claimed that as Spurs continue talking with the player’s agent, the Giallorossi are now more open about lowering their €60m request, and could end up accepting an offer of €50m for the player.

As Roma prepare to face Shakhtar Donetsk in a friendly on Sunday, outlet Gazzetta Dello Sport starts wondering if that will be a ‘farewell party’ for the midfielder.

The story claims that Tottenham’s interest should ‘not be underestimated’, as Antonio Conte ‘has charisma’ and Spurs have ‘economic availability’ to convince both the Giallorossi and Zaniolo of a transfer.

Gazzetta assures its readers that the player is pretty happy in Italy and ready to receive the affection from fans on Sunday. Meanwhile, they say the meetings between the clubs for his transfer to London are ‘not confirmed and not denied’.

It’s made clear that Roma will only let Zaniolo go ‘in the face of really important cash offers’, as the club won’t mind making a decent income with the sale. In the end, the decision is said to be with the player, who could be convinced to stay by the club’s fans at the weekend.
