On Monday, we covered claims from Italy which made AC Milan, or at least the media surrounding the club, sound rather cocky with their attitude towards signing Emerson Royal.
The Tottenham defender has been linked with the Rossoneri for weeks, and it’s been repeatedly made clear that he’s agreed to the transfer and there’s no issue on personal terms.
Around €20m is seen as the potential transfer fee, and there’s a feeling in Italy that Milan can simply go ahead and do that deal whenever they like.
Indeed, Tuesday’s edition of Corriere della Sera continues the theme. It’s explained that whilst the Tottenham player has ‘given his approval’ and a deal can be done at €20m, he’s not the priority right now.
Milan are instead looking to get a deal for a striker over the line first, with Bologna’s Joshua Zirkzee one of their major targets.
There’s no indication of how long that may all drag on, and there’s a reasonable chance Tottenham’s patience will be tested.
Spurs will need to find a replacement and they can hardly be expected to wait half the summer because Milan are so confident the deal is there to simply pick up when they choose.
