Tottenham midfielder Giovani Lo Celso is out for ‘revenge’ in the final part of the season after suffering ‘severe’ physical and mental blows.
The Argentine midfielder has been on loan with Villarreal since the summer, after returning to them for a season-long spell following a successful loan with them last year.
He had been set for a major role under Unai Emery and Quique Setién but an injury picked up on October 30th last year has seen him out for four months after it required surgery.
That injury saw the Tottenham man miss the World Cup in Qatar, where he would have been a key player for eventual champions Argentina, and he has only just returned from it.
His plan now is to reassert himself at Villarreal, where he ‘wants to win a title’, in this case the Europa Conference League, and help the Spanish side qualify for Europe again next season.
He is motivated by the ‘thorn’ of missing out on the World Cup, and now ‘knows that his time has come’ to make amends for what he missed out on at the end of last year.
Whether he can do so remains to be seen but the desire is there as he looks for ‘revenge’ for what fate took away from him ahead of his potential return to Tottenham this summer.
